How to correct permissions on folder using command prompt

Open command prompt (Start Menu > cmd) right click and select "Run as administrator"

1.) Navigate to the folder that needs to be protected. cd inetpub\wwwroot\trickyfolder

If you are unfamiliar with dos commands here is a list of basics of navigation. dir = list directory contents cd = change directory cd.. = move up one directory

2.) Type the following command and hit enter. icacls * /t /q /c /reset

3.) To force remove a read attribute use the cd.. command to move back up one folder then type the following command and hit enter.

icacls trickyfolder /grant:r "Administrators":(OI)(CI)M

That's it.
